What is a Bullet Trace?
Bullet trace is similar to heat waves that are commonly seen on hot grill. Heat is transferred to the air from the hot surface, the mixing of this warmed air with the surrounding ambient air creates the heat wave aberration we are accustomed to seeing. Bullets create air turbulence and give off energy as heat during flight, light defraction is momentarily disturbed by the mixing of air streams allowing the human eye to follow the bullet’s path.
